This
novel is a story of a 16-year-old high school student who
discovers his true path to self-actualization and success.
He uncovers the mysterious existence of this late
grandfather's ghost who returns to earth to help him achieve
self-esteem in the midst of life’s triumphs and tragedies.
A year after Pepe’s
death, Eddie discovers his ghost in the attic of the
mansion. The ghost’s image appears capsulated inside an old
reversible mirror in the attic. The ghost is the physical
image of Eddie but possesses the voice of the grandfather.
After revealing to the boy the reason for his return from the
grave, the ghost gives Eddie an old Indian artifact, a
magical medallion presented to his family in the early
1900’s, which enables him to undergo a transformation of his
athletic weaknesses.
Overcome by his
sudden successes, and defiant to the ghost’s warnings, he
soon becomes cocky, brash, and obnoxious. He becomes
unpopular and disliked by close friends and family.
While driven by his
desires for success, Eddie discovers the pitfalls of this
obsession with self-actualization and suffers the heavy cost
of ignoring the characteristics of his inner self and
turning away from long-lasting friendships.
Will Eddie see his
dreams of success revolve in full circle? Will he finally
come to understand the true purpose of his grandfather’s
spiritual return?
He
learns the lessons of teamwork and success through the
intervention of the ghost. The question is, will he learn
the lessons in time to help his team win the state
championship and save his friendships ?
